HUSTers in the 2023 ICF Dragon Boat World Cup

Recently, the 2023 ICF Dragon Boat World Cup was held in Yichang, Hubei Province. 25 members of the HUST Women's Dragon Boat Team, together with members of the Hubei Provincial Team and Jianghan University Dragon Boat Team, formed Chinese Women’s Dragon Boat Team 1 and Team 2. Led by Shen Heng, coach of the HUST Women's Dragon Boat Team, the two teams won 5 gold medals, 3 silver and 4 bronze in two women's categories.

 

 

The ICF Dragon Boat World Cup is an international A-class event of the highest level in dragon boat competition. This year's event consisted of 2 major categories: the 8-paddler Olympic dragon boat and the 10-paddler competitive dragon boat. Throughout the three-day competition, a total of 14 dragon boat teams from five continents competed against each other.

 

 

 

With the physical advantages gained from their training, the Chinese Team 1 and Team 2 won one gold and one bronze respectively in the 8-paddler Olympic dragon boat 2,000m round-the-mark final.

 

On the second day of the competition, the Chinese Team 1 managed to secure two gold medals in the women's 200 meter event, while the Chinese Team 2 also earned a spot on the podium by winning one silver and one bronze.

 

On the last day of the competition, things were extremely intense. The finals of the 8-paddler Olympic dragon boat 500m straight, the 10-paddler competitive dragon boat 500m straight and the 2,000m round-the-mark, took place one after another. Finally, the Chinese Team 1 concluded the last day of the event with two gold medals and one silver, while the Chinese Team 2 secured one silver medal and two bronze medals.

 

After three days of fierce competition, the girls achieved outstanding results.
