On August 16th, Vice President Trushnikov Dmitrii of Perm State National Research University (PSNRU) visited HUST. Chen Jie, Director of the Office of International Affairs, Li Chong, Chair of of Committee of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, and Zhai Tianyou, Vice Dean of the School, met with the delegation. Prof. Pang Shengyong presides the meeting.
Chen Jie extended a warm welcome to the PSNRU delegation. She mentioned that HUST has established practical partnerships with more than 300 universities and institutions worldwide, including 20 Russian partners such as St. Petersburg State University (SPBU) and ITMO University. She also pointed out that PSNRU is an important partner for HUST in Russia. At present, HUST is building the Junshan International Campus, which will further enhance the potential for collaboration and exchange between the two universities in the future.
Along with Prof. Bezukladnikov, Vice President Trushnikov introduced PSNRU’s historical development, campus environment, institutional setup and external collaboration projects. PSNRU excels in STEM fields in Russia and is one of the first of 12 institutions in the country's "National Research University" initiative. They hope for more academic exchange and research collaboration between both parties.
Prof. Zhai Tianyou introduced the School of Materials Science and Engineering, its disciplines, faculty and research strength to the delegation, and expressed his hopes for deeper cooperation in scientific research and talent training.
During the discussion, participants further discussed on exchange and collaborative research. Prof. Trushnikov commended the academic construction and research achievements of the School of Materials Science and Engineering. Chen Jie mentioned that both universities have similar and complementary strengths in science and engineering, and that she looked forward to expanding exchange and collaboration across multiple academic fields. During the visit, Chen Jie also presented a special gift to the PSNRU delegation on behalf of HUST.
The delegation also toured the Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics and Wuhan National High Magnetic Field Center and expressed their admiration for the construction of the major scientific infrastructure and national research centers at HUST.
