At 9 a.m. on April 27, 32 delegates from Uruguay, Jamaica, Mexico, Bahamas, Ecuador, Peru, Dominica, Chile, Suriname, Colombia, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Guyana, El Salvador, Barbados, Argentina, Brazil, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, and other Latin American and Caribbean countries visited the Guanggu District of Tongji Hospital - affiliated to Tongji Medical College. Bai Xiangjun, deputy dean of Tongji Hospital and dean of Optics Valley, and Tang Zhouping, executive vice president of Optics Valley, accompanied the visit.

On April 12th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Hubei Provincial Government held the "Heroic Hubei: Rebirth from Fire and Renew Glory" Hubei Global Special Promotion Event. The visit to Tongji Hospital by the envoys was also one of the special activities recommended by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The delegation of diplomatic envoys in China visited the hospital's cultural street and had a discussion with anti-epidemic medical representatives in Tongji Hospital. Vice President Bai Xiangjun introduced Tongji Hospital's anti-epidemic situation, summarizing experience, as well as discussing the resumption of work and production after the epidemic with the delegations. During the epidemic, the number of available beds, the number of critically ill patients, and the number of fever clinic visits to Tongji Hospital were the highest in Wuhan. It has explored systematic critical care treatment methods such as "advancement of barriers", "multidisciplinary cooperation", and "fine management". The State Council’s Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism (Medical Treatment Team) issued a document to promote it nationwide. The World Health Organization’s joint expert inspection team for new corona pneumonia highly affirmed the “Tongji experience”. Based on the outstanding performance of Tongji Hospital in the response to the epidemic and the overall strength of the hospital, the National Health Commission decided to add a National Major Public Health Incident Medical Center - with Tongji Hospital as the main body to promote the improvement of the national major public health incident response capacity and medical treatment level .

Six front-line medical and nursing representatives from the Department of Ophthalmology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Anesthesiology, Oncology, Hematology, and Nursing of Tongji Hospital communicated and shared their anti-epidemic experiences. "Tongji speed, 5 days to renovate the ward", "Fight side by side with the medical aid team in Hubei", "Three most memorable days" "My most memorable patient", "Supporting the construction of Huoshenshan Hospital, and preparing 94 wards in 6 hours", the medical staff communicated with the diplomatic missions in China from the perspective of their own experience.

The head of the delegation and Uruguay’s ambassador to China, Mr. Fernando Lugris, expressed his gratitude to Chinese medical workers for their selfless sharing. 2020 was a special year for China. He is grateful for their contributions. From a global perspective, the current epidemic is far from over, and countries need to strengthen cooperation. China's anti-epidemic experience is particularly valuable and worthy of promotion to the world.

It is reported that during the epidemic, Tongji Hospital took the lead in launching the "International Anti-epidemic Connection" in China, holding a total of 26 sessions with 12 countries. On April 13, 2020, experts from Tongji Hospital held a video exchange meeting on the prevention and treatment of new corona pneumonia with Peru, Colombia, Bolivia and other Latin American Andean countries, and conducted in-depth exchanges on detection methods, prevention and control measures, clinical treatment, and asymptomatic infections, which provided wide assistance to Latin American Andean countries in the fight against the epidemic.
